Blitz bound guide service client landed a 54lb striper on a fly. A few days ago.

From what I am seeing this has been a great run for the boat guys. Better than most years.

Miguel, there is not enough info on that catch for me to count it or it could end up being counted twice. I went to the Blitz Bound site but it is under construction. Its kind of a borderline situation.

Thanks, Miguel, I'll log it without the name as I do trust it.

On the Water Magazine posted on their Facebook page yesterday that a customer of Block Island Fishworks used a 6" Slug go to catch a boat fish that bottomed out a 60lb scale. Fish was released.

I believe it. I got corroboration via Hank Hewitt, aka FishTank, who used to post here, but who is now among other things a Block Island charter-boat captain. It was caught last week on the Block Island Fishworks charter boat.

Here's a picture:

Not trying to be difficult but what do I put down that separates it from other fish of that size? No angler name, no witnesses. It may show up somewhere else anyway; that way it won't be listed twice. Among the complexities of counting is counting fish smaller than 50-pounds. Liberal estimations, counting a fish more than once, misuse of the formula as a weight determinate, promotional attention seeking for charter businesses. I use this count each year for a report article that my readers, or certainly my editor, count on for accuracy. There is enough "fake news" in the media now and I want no part of it. This is not a scold because I rely upon people like you and in your personal case I am getting it from a trusted friend. I want my readers to trust what I print and one mistake could compromise my integrity.

That's why they pay you the big money, Frank. I report; you decide.

Thanks for that but Red Top had no details which would identify their fish from others. I'll watch for them at other sources.
